My father was a Virginia farmboy fresh out of high school when he was drafted into the army air corps during WWII. He was sent to England where he met an English girl that he sent back to the states as a warbride. I remember them telling me stories and showing me pictures of that time and I always wanted to hear about the plow horses! When my father would visit his family in the summer he would always bring back a Breyer model horse for me. I still have my favorite, an glossy gray appaloosa family arabian stallion. I remember visits to Virginia where my grandfather would put me one of the retired plow horses, Ernie. In later years my father and I raised and showed appaloosa horses together. His first mare, passed away at the age of 34 in 2007. I still have his last mare and will keep her until she goes on to greener pastures. I owe my father for my love of horses, the ability to pursue my dreams, and for serving our country. I miss you Dad!
