Just when you thought things couldn't be any worse ...

Aside from the obvious horrific cases of neglect that this reveals, it gives everyone who rescues horses an even harder job when a group that is well-known and well-funded messes up so monumentally. The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation has apparently be able to pay its salaried employees but not pay for the care of the horses  that it was accepting donations for. I'm also furious that some of the farms that had these horses let it go so far as to allow the horses starve and die. What is the public to do when they want to donate their hard earned money only to find out that a reputable "rescue" is anything but? Do we have to urge folks to donate to local rescues that they can visit and check-out prior to donating? It seems to be coming to that.
